Maureen Mary Aylward

Maureen Aylward, 81 of Whitney Point passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Ellen and by her brother Michael Aylward. She is survived by her sister, Patricia (Patrick) McCarthy of Canandaigua; brother, George (Elizabeth) of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Aylward of Brooklyn and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Maureen was a graduate of Hunter College and an accomplished musician writing several concertos and Gregorian masses.  She shared her musical talent with children teaching music lessons and playing the organ for numerous church communities in New York and Pennsylvania. She has been the music director and organist for St. Patrick’s Church, Whitney Point, St. Stephen’s Church, Marathon and O.L.P.H. Church , Cincinnatus for over a decade until her death. A funeral mass  will be offered 11:00am Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church, Whitney Point. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 59 Keibel Road, Whitney Point, New York 13862.
