Winifred Ticknor Obituary

Winifred Lucille Ticknor, 93, of Whitney Point went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Oscar on September 23, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Ticknor; brother, Richard Barrows and sister, Eunice Sanford. Winnie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beth Ticknor; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Jeanne Ticknor; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and John Connolly; grandchildren, Derrick (MaryKate) Ticknor, Travis (Alayna) Ticknor, Jocelyn (Leonardo) Ticknor, Taya (Ernie) Castimore, Biancia (Mat) Musshafen, Brittany Connolly, Kelsey (Jarrett) Ticknor, Baleigh (Kris) Stewart; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way. Winnie was a beloved member of the Whitney Point Community. To know her was to love her. She was born in Conklin NY but spent the majority of her life in Whitney Point NY, a town that she loved. After High School she completed a secretarial degree at Harper College. She worked at GE Westover for years before leaving to start a family. She also worked at the WP Auction and as a Foster Grandparent at the WP CEA School. She gained great fulfillment in working with children. She was an amazing grandmother to all children, but especially to her own. In recent years, she was blessed to know and spend time with her great grandchildren. She was known for having the sweetest disposition and never had an unkind word, was an eternal optimist and in her final days she spoke of being so grateful for her life and family. Her love and guidance was instrumental in her family’s achievements and successes. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She is now at peace and reunited with the Lord and the love of her life, Oscar. The family would like to thank the staff at UHS Binghamton General Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful and attentive care they showed to Winnie. Friends of the family may call from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Friday, September 27 at Nichols Funeral Home, 7323 119th Street, Whitney Point, NY 13862.
