Wayne A. Smith

Wayne A. Smith, 78, of Whitney Point went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Doris Smith and sister, Joyce Gilbert. Wayne is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Smith; sons, Wayne (Butch) Smith Jr. (Denise); Timothy Smith (Tammy); grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Christopher, Tiffany, TJ and Angel; sister, Audrey Henninge; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Heather Smith and step-children, Jeff and Anita Barry, Peggy and Frank Thurber, Sue and Glen Montgomery. Wayne was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He loved his church family and was a wonderful guitar player. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He was a pastor at Open Door Ministry in Whitney Point and also worked in maintenance at Whitney Point School District and Fire Fox Golf Course. A memorial service will be held 4:00pm Friday,  May 20, 2022 at Nichols Funeral Home 7323 119 Street Whitney Point, New York 13778. Friends may call May 20, 2022 from 3:00pm until 4:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Whitney Point Fire Department, 2665 Main Street, Whitney Point, NY 13862.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Charles Dietrich.
