Viola G. Dedrick, 88, of Dedrick Hill Road, Binghamton, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Wilson Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was born on April 23, 1925 in the Town of Sanford to parents Cecil and LaDella Tennant.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Dedrick, granddaughter Kattie Beth McConnell, parents, brother, Gerald Tennant and many loving family members.
She is survived by her children, Gerald “Jim” (Aggie) Dedrick Jr. of Binghamton; Henry (Connie) Dedrick of Glen Aubrey; Lucille Squires of Binghamton; Sharen (Daniel) McConnell of McLean and Robert (Terri) of Triangle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Corey (Stefanie), Henry (Heather), Steven (Lisa), Chelsea and Dylan Dedrick; Daniel ( Jennifer), Donald (Tracey) and Joseph (Brenda) McConnell; Melissa, Matthew and Ashley Squiers; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kyle, Kaleb, Emma and Ethan Dedrick, Dustyn Cornelius, Andrew, Allison, Chloe, Brenna and Ella McConnell. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Maxine Bennett, Cuba, NY; three brothers, Stanley Tennant of Greene,; Omar Tennant f Berkshire and Darwin (Eileen) Tennant of Utica and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Bruce Squiers of East Greenwich.
Viola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Famous for her cooking, baking, and maple sugar she was first in line to lend a helping hand or bring a covered dish. For much of her 47 year marriage, she worked on the family dairy farm. Later, she worked several years at Hilltop Manor.
