Mary K. Burghardt, 82 of Johnson City, formerly of Lisle was reunited with her husband Leaman L. Burghardt after a lengthy and courageous battle with multiple health issues on Monday, May 6, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Tom) Decker, Marietta, GA.; 4 sons, Steven (Linda) Burghardt, Lisle, Eric Burghardt, Clayton, NC, Scott (Sharon) Burghardt, Vestal,Jason (Kristin) Burghardt, Greene; 8 cherished grandchildren, Briana (Gary), Kylie (Kyle), Kaitlyn, Matthew, Whilee, Ashlee, Baylee, Naomi and enjoyed the arrival of her first great grandchild, Nylah. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Betty Oltz, Binghamton, JoAnne Lacey, Cortland as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a past member of the Whitney Point United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir, and was currently a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Binghamton where she was heavily involved in the church activities and made many friends. Over the many years as a resident of Whitney Point, Mary was active in the community including: Whitney Point Shakespeare Club, Lisle Free Library, Singing Moms, Community Musicals and Quilting Club. She was a member of the Johnson City Senior Center, enjoyed line dancing at the Endicott American Legion, reading, flower gardening, swimming and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s various sporting events.
The family will receive friends at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church 83 Main St. Binghamton, NY 13905 Thursday May 9, 2013 from 5PM until service time at 6:30PM as well as on Friday May 10 at the Nichols Funeral Home 7323 119th St. Whitney Point, NY from 4PM until service time at 6 PM. Private burial will take place in Lisle Cemetery at a later date.
Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to devoted neighbor, Connie Brokaw; her Tabernacle United Methodist Church family, especially the Ladies Social Group and all her care givers including Dr. Pejo and Dr. Driscoll.
