Lewis J. Austin, 90, of Dryden formerly of Triangle passed away peacefully after a brief illness with cancer on Wednesday December 4, 2013. He was predeceased by his mother Verne C. and stepfather Elsworth N. Birchard. He is survived by his “other half” Celia Putt Mullen; 3 children, Bonnie Austin, Dan (Cathy) Austin, Robin (Jim) Kutalek; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Christina) Bennett, Kelly Brownell, Scott (Jen) Bennett, Robin (Joe) Brown, Tim Ayres, Andrew (Shana) Ayres, Cynthia (Michael) Singleton, Danielle (Stan) Bogumil, Nicole Austin, Sean (Jennifer) McIntyre, Brent (Lana) Sturdevant, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lewis was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of the American Legion, a former professional motorcycle racer, member of the American Motorcycle Association, retired I.B.M. employee after 37 years of service, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing country music for seniors at various places. Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 8, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home 7323 119th St. Whitney Point with Reverend Bruce Glazier officiating. Burial will be in South St. Cemetery at a later date.
