Laura Riley Obituary

Laura Marie Riley, 86 of Nanticoke, surrounded by her earthly family ascended to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years in 2021, Bruce; brother, Lewis Pintler and parents, Melvin and Daisy Pintler. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Bonnie (Ken) Cron and Linda (Keith) Miller; 2 sons, Mark (Linda) Riley and Brian (Denise) Riley; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild due in December along with numerous nieces and nephews. Laura, being an army wife for 20 years, traveled the world with her husband from the western United States to the South, Northeast and across the Atlantic to Turkey. Traveling with her husband to see family near and far brought her much joy. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who served faithfully in her church on the Social Committee, VBS and Awana, to name a few. Laura loved working with children. She spent hours crocheting and doing other crafts. She was a member of the Owego Chapter of the Home Bureau Association and also worked as an AVON and Artex sales representative. Along with crocheting and crafting, you could always find Laura in the kitchen cooking, canning or outside working in her flower beds. With all she did, she was a teacher as well, passing on knowledge to anyone who wanted to learn the skills and hobbies she loved. Laura lived her life with a strong work ethic, open heart and open door. She was a woman who had such a kind, caring and generous heart. Laura will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at NYS Oxford Veterans Home for their tireless work, care and love extended to Laura during her time there. A funeral service will be held 12:00pm Saturday, July 16 at Nanticoke Baptist Church, 21 Church St, Lisle, NY 13797. Friends of the family may call from 11:00am until the time of service at the Nanticoke Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nichols Funeral Home, 7323 119 Street, Whitney Point, NY 13862. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Nicholsfuneral.com.
