Gary Bush Obituary

Gary E. Bush, 75, of Castle Creek passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on October 29, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Phyllis Bush and in-laws, Peter and Betty Czebiniak. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Bush; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Jeff Doebler; son, Jason Bush; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Karen Bush; granddaughters, Taylor (Bayden) Austin, Megan Doebler (Cody) and Katherine Bush; great-grandson, Dallas Austin; brother, John Bush; brother, Alan (Kathy) Bush; 3 nieces, Amy, Kellie and Katie; nephew, Dan; several aunts, uncles, cousins and very close friends. Gary began life with his parents and two younger brothers on the south side of Binghamton, but always enjoyed going to his grandparent’s farm in Little Meadows, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed being in the country hunting and fishing, and working on the farm. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. Upon returning home, he got married, started his family and built our family home while continuing his Federal Service to the country as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Johnson City for 32 years. After retirement, he spent 11 years as a material tester with a local firm, where he bonded with co-workers and multiple construction workers. Gary’s love for his wife, children, and grandchildren (Papa) was undeniably strong, and he always enjoyed having his family together (Saturday night pizza). In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch or back deck, mowing, hunting, fishing, reading westerns, painting, and especially carpentry, as well as cooking his famous “Sunday morning breakfast” with some Johnny Cash or Moody Blues, or at times Polkas playing in the background. Gary was truly a mountain of a man whose devotion to protecting and providing for his family bestowed a legacy of memories, knowledge, structure, and compassionate understanding to many people. His legacy and values were appreciated and will be greatly missed, but continued by those whose lives he influenced. We all love you Dad, thank you for everything and being the man that you were. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 8 at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, 45 Nanticoke St, Whitney Point, NY 13862.
