Ernie (Buddy) Howland Jr., 62 of Whitney Point, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. He was predeceased by his parents, Earnest and Joyce Howland Sr.; infant son, Nicholas and brother, John Howland. He is survived by his wife, Susan Howland of Whitney Point; nephew, James (Jennifer) Howland Jr. of Ohio; his faithful coon hound, Star and other dog, Penny and special friends, Hap Sherwood and Brian Brown. Ernie in his younger days worked with his father to help run their family farm and then worked for the Town of Triangle Highway Department as a machine operator where he retired. He was very proud of the fact that he won multiple Blue Ribbons in the New York State Maple Competition. He was an avid outdoorsmen having gotten many trophy deer and hosted hunts for the local Coon Club. Buddy was a loving and devoted husband. A celebration of life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, May 1 at the Whitney Point Sportsmen's Club, 3132 NY-206, Whitney Point, NY 13862.
