Eric Michael Burghardt (65) of Clayton, NC, formerly of Lisle, NY departed this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh following a health decline. He is predeceased by his parents, Leaman and Mary Burghardt, and the family dog, Pipsqueak. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kaitlyn Burghardt of Raleigh; as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Tom Decker of Gainesville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Linda Burghardt of Lisle, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Sharon Burghardt of Vestal, NY and brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Kristin Burghardt of Greene, NY. He was a proud uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews, who fondly referred to him as Uncle E, and a friend to all that met him. Eric retired from a long career with IBM in 2016. He lived a life of generosity and kindness. He was a passionate sports fan who would watch just about any sport and rooted for Syracuse in every game no matter the odds, but especially in basketball. He also loved playing games, making people laugh and supporting his family with unconditional love. He was first and foremost, a devoted father who proved time and time again that he would do anything for his daughter. A memorial service will be held 12:00pm Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Nichols Funeral Home, 7323 119 St, Whitney Point, NY 13862. Friends of the family may call from 10:00am until the time of service at Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lisle Cemetery. A time of fellowship at Ford Hill Golf Course, 4734 State Route 26, Whitney Point, NY 13862 will take place after the burial.
