Dorothy M. Knapp

Dorothy Knapp, of Castle Creek passed away on July 30, 2014. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1992, parents William & Nina Hinkley, sister and brother-in-law Edith & Frank Macomber, step daughter & son-in-law Geraldine & J. Ludwig Lucas and step-son Donald W. Knapp. Dorothy is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Richard & Grace Knapp of Castle Creek, her granddaughters Lyn (Patrick) Webb-MN, Andrea (TJ) Courtney-NY, Amy (Rob) Harper-NC, great grandchildren Alissa Theleman & Paige Webb, Amanda & Tommy Courtney, L. Renae, Kenny & Jimmy Harper. She is also survived by Geraldine’s and Donald’s children, grandchildren & great grandchildren, as well as a niece Anne L. Peterson-NY and great grand niece and nephews. In her younger years Dorothy enjoyed fishing on the Otselic River & Oneida Lake with Gerald & cousins Dick & Doris Knapp. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for herself, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Dorothy retired after working 25 years at the Castle Creek Post Office. Dorothy has resided at St. Louise and Elizabeth Church Manors for the past 3 years. The family thanks the staff of both for their loving care provided Dorothy. There will be no calling hours. For those wishing to attend, a memorial celebration will be held at the Castle Creek Fire Station Sunday August 3 from 2-4 p.m. A private burial will be held in Glen Castle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to the Castle Creek Fire Station P.O. Box 87 Castle Creek, NY 13744.
