Carl Edward Canniff      1922-2013

 

Carl Edward Canniff passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on June 22, 2013.  He was born January 16, 1922 in Colesville, NY.  He is predeceased by his parents, Claude and Helen Canniff, wives Anita, Viola and Dorothy, sister, Minnie Holcomb, daughters, Linda, Joyce and Donna.  Carl is survived by his sister, Pauline Whittaker, children: Sylvia (Jay) James, Richard (Vicki), Fred (Brenda), Ralph (Cheryl), David, Helen Neff, son-in-law William Tefft, Jr.; stepsons, Robert (Beth) and Richard (Jan) Bryan; aunt Rosemary Ingraham, several Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mr. Canniff was a lifelong farmer and a member of the NYS Horse Pullers Association and always gave a firm hand shake.  After retirement from Raymond Corp. Carl could be seen operating his sawmill with his loyal friend, Butchie.

Donations may be made to SPEAK, 351 Flint Road, Binghamton, NY in Butchie’s memory or MAVAC, P.O. Box 132, Marathon, NY. The family will receive friends at the NICHOLS FUNERAL HOME 7323 119th St Whitney Point, NY Thursday June 27, 2013 from 6-8 PM and Friday June 28 from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM. Reverend Eddie Maslin will be officiating. Burial will be in Port Crane Cemetery.
