Austin M. Belles

Austin M. Belles, 82, of Whitney Point, NY entered into God’s kingdom and back into his wife’s loving arms on March 26, 2014.  Austin was born on May 13, 1931 in Scranton, PA.  He was predeceased by his beloved bride of 58 years, Thelma L. Belles.  He was also predeceased by his parents, Mary Bartholomew Belles, and Austin Belles, and sister, Ann Sexton.  He was the devoted father of two children and their spouses, Susan and Thomas Wheeler, and Kenneth and Heidi Belles; proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Joshua Belles, Jennifer and Jason Orr, Jarrod and Kate Belles, Justine Belles, and Morgan Wheeler; and was a loving great-grandfather to his “bubble babies” Hailey and Lane.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin and Alice Gregg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Lorraine Gregg; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gregg; and many nieces and nephews.  He is remembered by those that knew him for his faith, as well as being a man dearly loved by and devoted to his family.

Austin attended Lisle Christian Fellowship Church.  He was a meat cutter for most of his life, at various locations including Wilson’s, Amour Meats, and Gregg’s in Whitney Point.  He was last employed as a courier for The Star Group, Inc.  He was a gifted athlete in his youth, especially in basketball, and track and field.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Nichols Funeral Home at 7323 119th St. Whitney Point, NY.  Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 AM at Nichols Funeral home, immediately followed by a luncheon to celebrate Austin’s life at the Lisle Christian Fellowship Church in Lisle, NY.  Burial will be at the family’s convenience.  Those wishing may make contributions in Austin’s memory to the Lisle Christian Fellowship Church, PO Box 298, Lisle, NY   13797
