Margaret D. Easton of Whitney Point
On Sunday, October 9th, Margaret Easton departed this mortal realm to enter life eternal with her precious Savior Jesus Christ. Margaret was resting in a hospital bed in our living room, surrounded by her family, when she drew her last breath. She knew we were all there for each other and that it was okay for her to go home with her Lord. We know we will see her again, but we will miss her dearly. Margaret lived her entire life caring for others. It was her calling as a servant of Jesus Christ, to tend to the needs of those around her, both family and friends. Margaret had a hard time saying “no” to any request for help, though the family often told her that she needed to learn to say “no”. Her 99 years of life were marked by many forms of service. After college she worked for the Methodist Board of Missions. After marriage in 1947, she worked in many capacities as a minister’s wife for over forty years, including many years in leadership positions with the United Methodist Women. Margaret also work other jobs through the years including work at the Methodist Children’s Home in Binghamton, NY. She substitute taught in various schools and worked for some time at a correspondence school. She has cared for many elderly people throughout her life. We will remember her most of all as a tireless, caring homemaker, always giving of herself. She was a humble, loving, wonderful mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend to many. She was a true example of a life lived for Christ through her selfless service to others. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Rev. Burt Easton and by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by 3 sons, James Easton, John Easton, Robert and Sylvia Easton; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Virginia and Barbara. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Whitney Point United Methodist Church. Friends of the family may call Friday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church. Arrangements are under direction of Nichols Funeral Home 7323 119th Street, Whitney Point, NY 13862 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.nicholsfuneral.com.
