I took great pleasure bumping into Mrs. Nicholson while making my errands through town. We shared many conversations about family and friends. She had a special way of speaking about the towns history that got your attention and interest so much, you just wanted to hear more! She would always mention to me a family house on Collins street and its long past history, a home that once belonged to my great-grandmother Marjorie Finch. My deepest condolences to the entire family, Carol was a great lady who will be truly missed.

Although I only got to know Carol recently after being hired at the Lisle Free Library, she quickly became one of my most encouraging and supportive friends. She was always quick to help or give advise. She loved helping others do research and sharing local history. She will be so greatly missed. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you. God bless.

The library in Lisle will seem empty for a long time. When I look out the window I expect to see your car pulling in. We miss you and your humor. Your chair has never seemed so empty. All I can add to that is I hope you are with David. We can think of that as we remember you.

I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss and ours as well. Carol and I worked together on local history and her knowledge of and memory was astounding. She was genuinely excited to freely share sources and material on my family line that I treasure. What a gift! We were not finished with our work and I am heartbroken to think that we all have to go on without her immeasurable skills. She left us much too soon. Carol's enthusiasm, sense of humor and directness were refreshing! How we will miss her!
